Our 5th-grade students have been diving deep into the world of physical and chemical changes. Today, they put their knowledge to the test with a hands-on lab using water bottles, vinegar, baking soda, and balloons.
By combining these ingredients, students observed a chemical reaction firsthand as the resulting gas inflated their balloons. This experiment was a fantastic way for our students to see science come to life while practicing teamwork and creative thinking.
It was an engaging day of discovery, and we are proud of the curiosity and collaboration our young scientists displayed throughout the process.

After designing logos, determining proper weight placement, racing, and revising their mini soap box derby cars all month, sixth graders competed in classroom soap box derby races today! The pictured students constructed the four fastest cars in their classrooms and will compete in the grade level competition on Friday.

We loved our Big Fish, Little Fish day for reading month! Sharing books with South School friends is always a fun way to spend the afternoon!

We are so thankful that Project Full and the De Saegher family provide snacks for all of our students at North Elementary! Once the snacks get delivered, you can see it takes a team working together to distribute the snacks efficiently!

It was so nice having Mrs. Doherty as our guest reader! Thanks for taking the time to share your book with us!

What fun having Mrs.Dawe's class over to "Buddy Read"!

Happy birthday to Millie our third grade therapy dog! She's 6 today!

Thank you Mrs. Freestone for reading Heckedy Peg to our third graders! We all enjoyed your witchy voice!

All my little 3rd grade leprechauns listened to Mrs. Rayburn read our favorite St. Patrick's Day book...How to Catch a Leprechaun.

Our students have caught the "Title Wave of Reading" for a combined total of 17,729 minutes spent reading this month. Check our classroom leaderboard.

Wow! Thank you to all of our sponsors who continue to create big opportunities for our students!

Third graders started their climate unit by creating models of the three climate zones in STEAM lab. Successful models allowed a marble "traveler" to roll from the polar zone, through the temperate zone, and land in the toasty tropical zone!

Great job! Keep up the good work!

Hi North Families,
Here is The Buzz WK 27! Have a great weekend!
Officer Greene read Sirius, the hero dog of 9/11 to us today and it made us tear up! Thank you for sharing this touching story with our third graders!

Congratulations to our Superstars! These students have raised $200+ and earned a pizza lunch with Mrs. Rayburn.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read to our third graders Mrs. Melow!!! It was great seeing you!!

Thank you, Mrs. Sally Helwig for sharing The Guardians of the Straits with us! What a great story!

Our 4th and 6th graders had a truly special experience today for March is Reading Month! We were honored to host a guest reader who shared more than just a book—he shared his personal story in education.
Our guest spoke movingly about his own journey in education, what school was like for him, and why it is so important to value reading every single day. He shared the classic story "Thank You, Mr. Falker" by Patricia Polacco. This powerful book reminds us all that with the right support and a lot of "grit," any student can overcome obstacles to become a great reader. It was the perfect message for our 6th graders as they prepare for the challenges of junior high!
A huge thank you to our guest, Mr. Paul Hungerford, for taking the time to inspire our students and remind us why we love our school community.

Check out our classroom leaderboard for reading minutes!
