Our 5th graders had an amazing opportunity to visit South Elementary and work alongside 1st graders during a hands-on STEAM activity! Each 5th grade class helped guide and support the younger students as they explored learning about light and shadows, a topic both grades have been studying. This teamwork-building experience helped both 1st and 5th graders deepen their understanding of how shadows work while learning from one another. Students especially loved creating unique and creative shapes during the activity planned by Mrs. Hindbaugh-Marr! It was wonderful to see leadership, collaboration, and learning shining so brightly across grade levels!

📚Happy World Read Aloud Day & Happy 100th Day of School! 📚 Today was extra special at our school! A huge thank you to our amazing principal, Mrs. Rayburn, for visiting each classroom and sharing the joy of reading with our students. The kids loved listening to her read aloud and were so excited to share their own stories with her, too!

Most 4th graders were not happy to see that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and we have 6 more weeks of winter! However, the kids who earned the AR recess for January had a blast sledding and playing in the snow!

Ms. Fonger's sixth grade students had a wonderful visit at South Elementary! These sixth grade scientist leaders collaborated with Mrs. Hindbaugh-Marr's kindergarten STEAM class. Both classes are learning about forces and motion and how the weight of objects changes how it moves, so this partnership worked out great!

Once a month our students hear a Principal Chat from Mrs. Rayburn about character and how we can make our school a better place. This month’s message (shared by Mr. Andrews while Mrs. Rayburn was on a field trip) focused on how our decisions and choices become consequences. It was a powerful reminder for students and staff alike. Thank you, Mr. Andrews, and thank you, Mrs. Rayburn, for these meaningful moments.

Today, our 5th graders visited Abrams Planetarium at MSU, and it was truly out of this world! 🚀 In science class, students learn all about stars, constellations, and our universe, and this field trip gave them the opportunity to expand their learning in a visual and exciting way. Students loved hearing the stories behind the constellations and had a blast going on the unforgettable “space roller coaster!” A huge thank you to our bus drivers for getting us to MSU safely and to all of our amazing chaperones for helping make this experience possible. It was a fantastic day of learning and fun!
