This Friday is the last day to order Homecoming buttons!
As an extension of their inherited traits science unit, third graders created models of bats to demonstrate the physical and behavioral traits bats inherit. Models needed to have wings, tails, bodies, and heads and be able to fly 5 feet!
Mr. Ostrander and Mr. Hector work nonstop for our school behind the scenes! Without them, many of us would be lost!
Last week in Music, 4th & 5th grade learned how to use rhythm sticks! One of the ways we practiced this new skill was to play along to Vivaldi's "Autumn" and "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons.
Last week in Music 3rd grade began learning a cup game to the tune of "Entry of the Gladiators," by Julius Fucik. Many of you may know it as "the Circus" song!
Our 5th graders put their decimal skills to the test in a real-world challenge today! Students became shoppers as they compared gas prices from different “stations” around the classroom. They were tasked with finding the cheapest gas for different vehicles and drivers, using their knowledge of comparing decimals to make smart choices.
This hands-on activity helped students see how math connects to everyday situations. They had a blast working together to solve the challenges!
5th graders used teamwork from our Positivity Project to help one another break free from the human knot!
4th graders have been excited to learn about their mealworms! A lot of the mealworms have molted, and we already have a few pupas!!

Fourth graders tackled a lock box challenge after learning how bees use their structures to survive. Once the four locks were open, the scientists needed to use the magnetic pieces inside to create models of moving bees.
5th graders created models to show how photosynthesis works in plants!
This image shows what 6th graders foresee in their future. After all, 6th grade is the midpoint of their school journey! The activity, designed to inspire hope, empower vision, and celebrate the pursuit of excellence, had each student draw what he or she looked forward to for their senior year! Ever wondered how models can help us understand the world? Our 6th graders are diving into the NGSS science practice by developing and using models to show us how to create their favorite breakfast foods! Throughout the year, developing and using models will help them understand key science concepts across all units. This practice will be crucial all year long!
Fifth graders created models of unicellular organisms using old CDs and playdoh in STEAM lab!
Sixth graders practiced their environmental engineering skills after learning about an interesting beaver relocation project carried out in Idaho in the 1950s. Their challenge was to design boxes that would keep wooden block "beavers" safe while parachuting in the air, but open upon landing.

Welcome back to another school year! This morning, we had the pleasure of meeting our new music teacher and even got to join in on a fun body percussion song! We also had our first chat with Mrs. Rayburn, who shared important guidelines about no smartwatches, cell phones, or other electronic devices. #SwarmTogether
