📚🐛 Fifth Graders Are Bookworms for Bookworms! 🐛📚
Our fifth graders have truly been bookworms for bookworms as they’ve been diving into The Watsons Go to Birmingham—1963 and The Westing Game! Students have been so engaged, eager to share their thoughts, ask questions, and discuss the stories with one another.
Through shared reading and partner reading, students are building fluency while also growing their love of reading. It’s been amazing to see their excitement, curiosity, and confidence shine as they explore these powerful and intriguing novels together. We love watching our readers learn, think, and grow!

North Elementary is looking for a full time para-pro. ✏️ 🏫 📝

Please join us tonight at the North Elementary Media Center from 5:30 - 6:30 for Family Fun Night! If you bring an item for our Hoops for Hunger donations you will be entered in a drawing for a fun gift basket! Hope to see you there!

Third graders wore their best "Tree topper"! Some custom made ones were pretty amazing!

SNOW DAY FUN at North Elementary ❄️

Our 5th graders in Miss Sopocy’s class have been learning about the road to the American Revolution! Today, students used M&Ms and Skittles to experience what it felt like to be taxed by the British government. After receiving candy “payment,” they quickly saw how frustrating it was to have it taken away for using everyday classroom “goods” like desks, books, and paper.
Then, after reading about the Sugar Act and Stamp Act, students understood firsthand how upset the colonists were about being taxed without having any say. It was an engaging, hands-on way to bring history to life!

Sixth graders used their biomedical engineering skills to play a STEAM-lab version of the operation game. Teams collaborated to create surgical tools that could remove various items without knocking down surrounding golf tees. We definitely have some future surgeons and biomedical engineers in our midst!

Ugly sweater day in the third grade did not disappoint! These kids are too cute!!

Fourth graders read Redheaded Robbie's Christmas Story in STEAM lab and were challenged to create three important elements from the story--a snowman, a wagon, and a sled. Teams of three collaborated to get all elements done in 50 minutes!

5th graders giving one final goodbye and thank you for all the hard work and dedication given to North Elementary by secretary Angie Ostrander, who worked her final day! We will miss you!

Thanks to two generous families who kindly donated planners to our 6th-grade students! Donations like this help students build organizational skills and take on more individual responsibility. We appreciate your thoughtfulness!

Can you believe we are already into December? Please make sure and check out the Buzz for upcoming events and dates to remember.

Fifth graders in Ms. Richardson’s room have been busy showing off their creativity as they work on special gifts for their parents!
Our students have been designing, crafting, building, and adding their own personal flair to each project. The room is full of imagination, teamwork, and lots of excited energy as they bring their ideas to life.
We can’t wait for families to see the thoughtful and creative surprises headed their way!
