Friday was another Heroes in the Hive day at North! We celebrate these community members who come in once a month to spend time and build positive relationships with our students.

Dear North Families,
We have one more week until Spring Break! Please contact North Elementary if you have any questions!

Get ready for Explorer/Hiker Day--wear outdoor/hiker gear! It's a reading adventure as we continue to celebrate reading month.

Get ready for Camo or Critter Day tomorrow...wear camo/dress as animal/wear animal shirt!

Last Friday was Family Breakfast Day at North Elementary! We had a great turnout with parents and students coming in early to enjoy breakfast together! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to enjoy breakfast and spend some time with their children.

This week our school community will be focusing on the Other People Mindset of Identifying and Appreciating the Good in Others. It’s important to deliberately work to identify and appreciate others’ character strengths.
Identifying and appreciating the good in others is a core tenet of the Other People Mindset. This isn’t always what comes naturally. Often, it’s easier to blame others for our problems or find flaws in others to use as excuses for our own jealousy, bitterness, or resentment. The problem is that this negativity usually leads to problems -- for ourselves, for the other person, and for our relationships.

Thank you to the Mackinac Outreach Program for an engaging learning opportunity for our 5th graders talking about the American Revolution in the state of Michigan!

It's been a great first week of Reading Month! 4th graders used their research skills to make a poster for the windows! They were engaged as they read with finger flashlights! Making connections with an Ithaca alumni guest reader also made this week fun!

As a part of their climate zone studies, third graders learned about arctic explorers. Partners were then challenged to design harnesses that allowed for hands-free sled pulling. It was great fun to watch them collaborate and celebrate successful designs!

Tomorrow is Read the Rainbow Day--dress in as many colors as you can!

Tomorrow is Read a Hat or Shirt Day at school! We can't wait to read everyone's hat or shirt as we celebrate reading month!

4th graders will be "reading under the stars" this month! We can't wait for all the activities that will immerse us in reading this month!

We are on a Reading Adventure in the Great Outdoors as we kick off our March is Reading Month theme! Our sixth grade students started to create their reading month poster. We used collaboration to build our poster and be sure to check out all the many displays in the hallway leading to the North gym.

Dear North Families: We have had a lot of change in the weather and it seems to change daily! Please make sure that your child is prepared for the weather of the day. Also, there is a lot of information going home today in Friday Folders, please make sure to check it all out. Have a great weekend

Our Thursday STEAM club wrapped up today. Thank you to all the family members who stopped in to see the great work our third graders have been doing all month long!

Here are our February Students of the Month! These students represented positive character strengths throughout the month of February! Congratulations!

After learning that Christmas trees are recycled in some communities to create water erosion barriers, fourth graders tested their own barrier building skills in STEAM lab. The challenge was to let small beads roll through while holding larger Pom poms and balls back. We had some pretty successful designs!

Reminder: tomorrow is a half-day of school for the students. They will be released at 11:35 AM. This marks the end of the 2nd trimester.

5th graders gave engaging presentations on their informational text they read about!

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Love of Learning. Love of learning means you master new topics on your own or in school.
