Last week, 4th graders were able to go to Bay City State Park. Nature Awaits completely funds field trips to state parks for 4th graders around the state! Even though it was cold and rainy, our students and chaperones had a great time along the shores of Lake Huron learning about native species as well as invasive species, and finding cool critters in the marsh!

The Greenfield Village field trip is tomorrow! The Fifth Grade Teachers look forward to seeing students and their adult chaperones tomorrow, May 29, no later than 6:30 AM in their classrooms. After checking in with teachers, chaperones will be free to return to their vehicle and start the trip! Students will ride the bus to the Village. Tickets will be given to chaperones when the bus arrives at the Village. Students riding the bus to Ithaca from the Village will be BACK at North School's gym lot around 6 PM. Parents need to pick up those children at North school at 6 PM. Please help students remember to bring food, sweatshirt, umbrella, cell phone, or other supplies you think may be needed for a day spent mostly outdoors, walking! Thank you!

ACES Day! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Today our 6th graders participated in ACES Day (All Children Exercising Simultaneously) and had an awesome time! We walked for 30 minutes around the high school track, enjoying the fresh air, some movement, and best of all—time with our friends from North Elementary! 💙💛 It was so great to see our students laughing, talking, and staying active together. What a fun way to celebrate health and community!

Sixth graders created miniature golf courses in STEAM lab and spent time testing them out this week. Each hole required the golf ball to navigate around, under, or over three different obstacles and proved to be quite challenging with our meter stick and clothespin "clubs". Perseverance was key!

🚍✨ Field Trip Fun at the Sloan Museum! ✨🚍 Our students had a fantastic day exploring the Sloan Museum! They kicked off the trip with an exciting STEAM challenge, building cars from recycled materials. Creativity and teamwork were on full display! Students explored a variety of hands-on science exhibits, including the always-popular water table, which was a definite favorite. 💧🔬 They also walked through fascinating history exhibits, focusing on Michigan’s rich history, with a special spotlight on Flint, Michigan. From innovative concept cars to learning about the famous Flintstones who played at MSU. It was a day packed with discovery and fun. A BIG thank you to our amazing PTO for fully funding this field trip for all of our students! Your support made this unforgettable day of learning possible. 💛 Thank you also to our wonderful chaperones and the Sloan Museum for providing such an engaging and educational experience.

Third graders experimented with balanced and unbalanced forces in STEAM lab after designing their own balance scales! They were challenged to compare various classroom items (erasers, binder clips, tape rolls, etc.) and determine which items were heaviest.

Fourth graders continued their renewable energy unit by learning about wind turbines that have large fringed blades to mimic owl feathers for noise reduction and small curved blades to mimic maple seeds for increased movement. Their models of these unique turbines were fantastic!
