SCHOOL BOND UPDATE: DATE CHANGE

As many of you might have heard by now, at a special meeting on March 18, 2020, the Ithaca Public School Board decided to postpone the May 5, 2020 bond vote to August 2020. The school was informed that we could continue with the May 5th vote and do everything as absentee votes or postpone. With all the uncertainty around the Coronavirus, we felt you, the community’s first priority needed to be staying healthy and finding a new routine in your daily lives.

The school board still feels the bond needs to move forward, and for that reason, we will be putting the vote on the August 4, 2020 ballot. Working with the bond council, it has been determined that by waiting until August, the debt levy increase will only need to be 2.95 instead of the original 3.20 due to lower projected interest rates. This still will raise the 30 million dollars to build the new elementary and perform upgrades on the junior/senior high school.

As we move forward toward the vote in August, we will post any new information to keep you informed. Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Sarah Kettelhohn
Interim Superintendent

Two Superintendents?

On this site, you will see Steve Netzley listed as the Superintendent and Sarah Kettelhohn as the Interim Superintendent. For those that are unaware, Superintendent Netzley is currently on Military Leave. Superintendent Kettelhohn is filling his role while he is away and will be here through the bond election and beginning phases of planning. For these reasons, you will see information on this site from both Superintendents. We hope this will clarify any confusion you may have.
